Former President Bill Clinton to Speak at 2006 Annual Meeting in Cleveland

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the AANA has secured Former President Bill Clinton to be the keynote speaker at the 2006 Annual Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio. President Clinton is scheduled to speak on Sunday afternoon, August 6, in the Cleveland Convention Center.  The AANA's 75th Anniversary celebration, which will culminate with the Annual Meeting in Cleveland, is a once in a lifetime event; likewise, having a former U.S. president with close ties to nurse anesthesia personally address our Association on this occasion is a once in a lifetime opportunity. President Clinton, whose mother was a CRNA and a member of the AANA, was instrumental in helping us remove the Medicare supervision requirement-a pivotal event in nurse anesthesia history. You won't want to miss this outstanding speaker!

And...there are many other reasons to make your plans now to attend the 2006 Annual Meeting in Cleveland:

-- The Opening Ceremonies and Annual Banquet, which will celebrate the AANA's history;

-- The history museum, which will be open only during the Annual Meeting;

-- Book signings of the new pictorial history coffee table book that will be available this summer;

-- Excellent educational sessions;

-- The Party with a Purpose;

-- The Annual College Bowl;

-- A reception at the House of Blues hosted by the Cleveland Clinic;

-- Cleveland attractions such as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, lakefront, and world-class museums and restaurants; and

-- Much, much more.

The preliminary schedule will be in the mail and on the website shortly. Housing opens on March 1 (call 877-226-2885 to reserve your room). Be
sure to register now for this historic meeting of CRNAs from around the country! I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Sincerely,

Brian D. Thorson, CRNA, MA
