Stop Medicare's Unprecedented Anesthesia
Payment Cuts
Dear AANA Member:
Medicare has proposed major cuts in anesthesia reimbursements for services
provided by CRNAs and anesthesiologists alike. Will you take action today to
help reverse these cuts?
Contact Your Legislator Today!
It’s true. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed
cutting anesthesia reimbursement by up to 13 percent in 2007 for every
anesthesia service you provide Medicare patients. Your AANA has met with CMS.
AANA has provided comments to CMS to fight these proposed cuts. The agency has
heard from AANA and CRNAs.
But to reverse these anesthesia cuts, which affect both CRNAs and
anesthesiologists, CMS needs to hear from your elected members of the U.S. House
and Senate. And your elected officials must hear from CRNAs, to stop the
Medicare anesthesia cuts that will hurt patients’ access to healthcare services.
Now is the time to make your voice heard!
Your U.S. Representative’s and Senators’ voices on this issue are particularly
important. Will you take a moment to send a message today – to alert your
legislators about the Medicare anesthesia reimbursement cuts, and to ask them to
contact the Medicare agency to stop them?
The most effective way for you to communicate your message is to make a phone
call using the speaking points. Next best is to send a custom letter via mail or
fax, and/or to send a form letter via mail or fax. The system automatically
addresses your letter to the proper street address for you to print. Though this
system does give you an email option, emails do not get much attention on
Capitol Hill from members of Congress, and we strongly recommend you use one of
the other options to send the most effective message.

nurse anesthesia, thank you.
